Young sailors collect seashells to save lives

October 14 2010

The Cotuit Mosquito Yacht Club, inspired by the sailing club of the same name, spent this summer teaching their fellow mariners how they can send a net and save a life, raising enough money to send 30 nets!

Abbie, Maddie, Odence, Ford, George, and Hattie combed the beaches around Cotuit, MA searching for shells to make jewelry and sell to the local community. Battling mosquitoes themselves, the young sailors learned the importance of life-saving bednets and their hard work certainly paid off. Great work guys!
