Inspired by fundraising efforts of the Houston Dynamo and Chicago Fire player Diego Gutierrez, the supporters of the Minnesota Thunder soccer team are stepping up to the challenge of malaria prevention at the Nomad World Pub in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
These ambitious supporters, who call their group the Twin Cities Nets, plan on hosting a fundraising event to support the efforts of the Nothing But Netscampaign.
Besides food, drinks, and a live band (the funk band Cheetah Nunchuck), the event will feature an extensive silent auction! Signed soccer balls by Samuel Eto'o, Charleston Battery, the Chicago Fire, jerseys, gift certificates, and game tickets are just a few of the items that will be available for bidding. With a $10 cover fee which funds one bed net, and all proceeds going to the Nothing But Nets campaign, you can’t help but get excited.
So if you are a supporter in the Twin Cities, put on your funk shoes and your soccer jersey and make your way down to the Nomad World Pub on Sunday the 14th at 5p.m.!
