Malaria gets ugly on ABC's hit show Ugly Betty

October 07 2009

We might be a little biased, but there is one TV sitcom premiere coming up that you don’t want to miss – because we’re going to be on it! On Friday, Oct. 16 at 8/7c, ABC’s Ugly Betty will feature the UN Foundation’s Nothing But Nets!

The comedy’s 2-hour premiere has title character Betty Suarez arranging her first fashion shoot as assistant features editor at MODE magazine, and she helps to spread the buzz on Nothing But Nets with the United Nations as a backdrop! The show marks the first time a sitcom has ever been filmed at the UN.

This is an awesome opportunity to highlight malaria prevention and the great work of the UN Foundation, Nothing But Nets and of course, the UN. Here are a couple ways you can bite back against malaria with Betty – we hope you’ll tune in.

  • Put on your PJ’s and park yourself on the couch with friends & family for a watch party – or dress up in your favorite Betty outfit.
  • Follow us on Twitter as we live tweet the show and add your own live updates using the hashtag #UglyBettynets.
  • Send us photos from your watch party and a recap of the show.

Set your TiVo or DVR now for 8/7c, Oct. 16, on ABC! We’ll send out a reminder next week – but check back at www.NothingButNets.net/UglyBetty for more udpates.

We hope you’ll be a trendsetter like Betty among your own NET-work and send a net and save a life
