In the spring of 2006 I was the philanthropy chair for my sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, at the University of Georgia. My brother, who subscribes to Sports Illustrated, read the article on malaria nets and sent it to me. I was shocked when I read about the severity of malaria. My sorority had already raised thousands of dollars for breast cancer research, but I knew that we could still do something to prevent this awful disease. When I proposed to my sorority that we fundraise for Nothing But Nets, they responded generously by raising $2,000! I am proud of the girls and we can all do our part to send a net and save a life. Thanks to Rick Reilly for getting the information out and letting us be a part of this global effort!
