My name is Elias and I am nine years old. I have been raising money for Nothing But Nets for about a year. I first read about the Campaign in TIME Magazine with my Mom. I started raising money by writing letters to everyone in my family, asking them to donate. I was hoping to get $100, and I ended up getting about $350 from family and friends! I decided I didn't want to stop there and I asked everyone at school to put their change from lunch in a jar for Nothing But Nets. Then I had a bake sale at my church and got about $250 more dollars.
Right now I am selling wrapping paper and gifts bags for Christmas, which I decorate to look nice for wrapping. I am also making up certificates for people to buy. They can buy a certificate for $10 to send a net to help stop malaria and then can give the certificate to someone for a gift. I am selling these things at our mission's market at church and I will sell them at our church's craft fair. So far, I have raised a little more than $1,000. I hope that sometime I can go to Africa to see the nets and meet the people who will be safely sleeping underneath them!
