Children everywhere are taking action in the fight against malaria. It doesn’t take a lot to make an impact on the lives of people around the world. This is particularly true in the case of Sarah Friedman, a 7th grader at Richmond Jewish Day School in British Columbia.
For a class project focused on doing good deeds for others, Sarah and two of her classmates, Abraham Ravvin and Thiago Goldbach, chose to raise money for Nothing But Nets because they would have the opportunity to protect children in sub-Saharan Africa from malaria.
For two days after school, Sarah and her friends collected books from families in their local community. With the books they collected, they held a book drive to raise money. Sarah, Abraham, and Thiago raised $90 through their class project – enough to send nine life-saving bed nets to families in Africa.
Sarah said she appreciates the kindness Nothing But Nets is contributing to the world, but for us, it’s people like Sarah and her classmates who help Nothing But Nets and its UN partners make progress in the fight against malaria.
You don’t have to be a professional, a millionaire, or even an adult to make a positive impact on the world. It’s ideas, action, and selflessness that are helping Nothing But Nets cover Africa one bed net at a time.
